Myrtle Ave., Brooklyn New York: John Catsimatidis, Chairman of the Red Apple Group and owner of New York City’s famous Gristedes supermarket chain, brought 75 jobs and a new supermarket to an inner City area of Brooklyn last Monday morning. Here at grand opening, Brooklyn borough President Marty Markowitz with John Catsimatidis and New York City Councilwoman Leticia James.
The opening capped two years of efforts by community groups to draw a full service supermarket to the area. Catsimatidis said, “Opening a supermarket and creating jobs that did not exist before is a great feeling. I am very happy it all came came together.”
