Dear Friend
If you have not purchased your ticket for the August 22, 2011 PAL Luncheon Series with New York Lt. Governor Robert Duffy, I hope you will do so in the coming days.
This past month Governor Cuomo and Lt. Governor Duffy traveled the state, announcing the creation of new regional economic councils that draw from local academic, civic and business leaders.
This is the next phase of the governor’s promised push to revive the state’s economy. Each council will be submitting ideas for bringing business and jobs to the state, working with a streamlined state agency system also announced this week, and competing for funds from a $1 billion grant to help get the best ideas off the ground.
“It is about what is the best way we can pull together regionally to continue to grow jobs, and bring jobs and companies here,” Lt. Governor Duffy said.
Robert Duffy became Lieutenant Governor of New York in November 2010 after he and running mate Andrew Cuomo were elected to lead New York State. Lt. Governor Duffy had been mayor of Rochester, NY since January 1, 2006. After joining the Rochester Police Department in 1976, he worked nights to earn a Master’s degree from Syracuse University. He became Deputy Chief of Police in 1992 and Rochester’s Chief of Police in 1998. Lt. Governor Duffy and his wife Barbara are the parents of daughters Erin and Shannon.
Also Police Commissioner Ray Kelly will try to join us at the head table. I hope you are enjoying the summer, and hope to see you August 22, 2011.
