During the Nazi occupation of Greece from 1941 to 1944, the “civilized” and “educated” Germans looted more than 8,500 artifacts from musea and archaeological sites and the list isn’t complete.
Equally “respectfully”, they defecated on the Acropolis and exercised their shooting skills on the carved lions at the main entrance of Agamemnon’s palace in Mycenae.
They also carved their names on monuments, testimony to their barbarity for generations to come.
Needless to say, they haven’t returned the artifacts and they haven’t paid to repair the damage they did on the ancient monuments. As they didn’t pay for the damage they did to the country’s infrastructure, plus they never repaid the loan in gold that they forced the occupied Greece to given them.
Last but not least, they never compensated the relatives of the thousands of victims at mass executions plus the extermination of 90% of the country’s millenia-old Jewish population which amounts to a genocide!
It is time for the world to learn more about this side of Germany.
And by that I’m not referring to the crimes committed by the Nazis – their bestiality in other countries and on other peoples is well documented – but to the refusal of today’s “civilized” and “super sensitive” Germany to acknowledge her debt to the Greek people and start doing something about it!
