Electra’ is the latest endeavor of the “Leonidas and Eftychia Loizides” theater group, which is attenmting for the seventh consecutive year to bring to New York a piece of the ancient Greek civilization , always with the utmost respect to tradition.
This play was written at a time when Athens struggled for a newlegal system, potent enough to replace the Old Law of crime-vengeance. Nearly 2500 years later, the issue continues to plague people. Unfortunately we live at a time when universal human rights are in decline and man mutates his exasperation into an explosive appetite for revolution.
We favor a focus on ancient Greek tragedies, because apart from being astounding works of art, they also constitute a point of departure for the western civilization. Besides, ancient Greek theater used to function as a school for educating the soul and the mind, through the great examples of the tragic heroes.
After the end of the show, a discussion, or rather, a “workshop of ideas” will ensue. We would be honored if you joined us.
Kind regards,
Leonidas and Eftychia Loizides
