Λάβδα, σε συνεργασία με την Περιφέρεια Κρήτης-Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Ρεθύμνου, το Δήμο Ρεθύμνης, το Σύλλογο Μεταπτυχιακών Φοιτητών του Τμήματος Πολιτικής Επιστήμης, και τα ακόλουθα ανώτατα εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα κρατών-μελών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης: το University of Lodz (Πολωνία), το University of Westminster (Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο), το University of Applied Management (Ομοσπονδιακή Δημοκρατία της Γερμανίας) και το Graduate Institute for food, animal health, agricultural and environmental sciences-VetAgro Sup (Γαλλία).
Welcome to the website of the conference on “Governance for Sustainable Development” which will take place in Rethymno, Crete! The site will provide the information necessary for you to make the most of this event.
Aiming to contribute to the ongoing discussion on the relationship between governance and sustainable development, the Department of Political Science at the University of Crete in collaboration with the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Rethymno, the University of Lodz (PL), the University of Westminster (UK), the Fachhochschule für angewandtes Management/ University of Applied Management (DE), the Institut d’enseignement supérieur et de recherche en alimentat, VetAgro Sup (FR) are coming together to organize a conference on “Governance for Sustainable Development”.
The conference will encourage the sharing of experiences, knowledge, expertise and skills in the higher education sector.
The conference aims to publicise and facilitate dissemination of the outputs of the LLP/ Erasmus/ Multilateral Project entitled “GAVA: Governance for Sustainable Development”. The project, accomplished by the partners under the general coordination of Professor Zofia Wysokinska and the Lodz team, focused on the preparation of common curricula for a Master’s and PhD degree studying programme on Governance for Sustainable Development.
Bringing together experts, researchers, and graduate students who already practice in different fields of Social Sciences, Business Law, Development Studies, Political Science and Civics, Science, Mathematics and Computing, Environmental Sciences, and Ecology, the conference organizers hope to encourage an original exchange of views on experiences, accomplishments, problems and future prospects.
Let me note that the contribution and the support of the Regional Unit of Rethymno and the Municipality of Rethymno have been vital. In turn, we hope that the event – and the project on which it rests – will prove useful in helping build bridges between scholarly findings and policy practice at the regional and local levels.
I am certain that the conference will prove a memorable experience for those attending while the proceedings will be a worthwhile addition to the ongoing debate on sustainable development in a changing world.
